CU Conferences held the Credit Union Security Management and Director’s Conference in San Antonio, Texas at the Omni La Mansion Del Rio Hotel on April 18-22, 2016. The event’s attendees included a mix of security managers, board of directors, supervisory committee members, board chairs, auditors, CEOs, HR managers, training managers, and compliance officers.
The main focus of the event was to discuss security-related regulations and how examiners are focusing on security functions more these days. Its primary goal was to provide security managers with resources for continued security education and industry standard security practices, reducing their liability. The event was facilitated by Carol Dodgen, owner of Dodgen Security Consulting, LLC., and Barry Thompson, author of 101 Security Tips for the Beginning Security Officer. This four day event covered a wide array of topics in the security arena including the function of a security manager, federal and state security and safety regulations, workplace violence including active shooter and armed robbery response prevention, conducting an annual security review using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and time for networking in the credit union industry.
