Credit Union Forms: International Credit Union Day
International Credit Union Day
With today's vast presence of social media, celebratory days have been created for a variety of items such as hot dogs, coffee, and siblings. It seems like a national “something” day is a regular occurrence. But there is one special day that Oak Tree Business Systems, Inc. would like to take a moment to celebrate. This day, of course, is International Credit Union Day.
Credit Union Day HistoryFirst, let's take a look back at the first credit union day. No, this isn’t a new holiday that has been created because of mainstream hype. International Credit Union Day was first celebrated on January 17, 1927, way before the existence of social media, the internet, or even computers. The Credit Union League of Massachusetts celebrated the first official holiday that was meant to celebrate credit union members and workers. The first attempt to celebrate this day, however, did not catch on. A little over 20 years later, when the credit union presence grew in America, a revamp of international credit unions occurred. It was declared that International Credit Union Day would be observed on the third Thursday of October.
International Credit Union Day TodayToday, members and credit unions celebrate this day with open houses, picnics, festivals, and contests for members. Here are some ideas your credit union can use to commemorate this day:
1. Use our hashtag #OTBS_CUforms and #ICUDay to post pictures/videos, or encourage members to share selfies while using it.
2. Celebrate at your credit union by recognizing your staff, have an open house, celebrate your members with a BBQ, or have a raffle.
3. Promote superior credit union products on this special day to spread the word to your members!
4. Invest in your credit union with forms from Oak Tree Business Systems, Inc.! Happy International Credit Union Day! :-)
