Humanitarian Highlight 10/3: Climbing Upwards
Hello everyone!! We are excited per usual that we get to share a new #HumanitarianHighlight post! Each week, we are blown away by the uproaring of support each credit union does to help create a #CUdifference. If you know of any credit union that went above and beyond for their community, use #HumanitarianHighlight to be featured on our page!
How incredible is this? Carolina Trust FCU just recently established the Annual Veterans Scholarship in honor of Lieutenant Colonel James B. Kendrick, USAF/Retired. Not only is this a superb way to show support in helping veterans and participants within the ROTC program, but it shows us that Carolina Trust FCU has determination in creating a #CUdifference!
Robins Financial CU donated $1,000 to Project Giving and is a proud sponsor for the upcoming Retro Night Glow! Right on, everyone!!
Not only is Vibe CU a great credit union, but they also have a devotion to helping out their #community. Through their Diaper Drive, they were able to collect 13,000 diapers!! Way to go Vibe CU!
We were astounded by how hard-working and devoted Orange County’s CU is. During the CHOC Walk at Disneyland this year, Orange County’s CU was able to fundraise $44,000!!
Loving their community and everyone in it, Acadia FCU hosted their annual meeting and member appreciation picnic. With over 450 of their members attending, this incredible credit union had the chance to present a $25,219 check to feed Maine’s hungry.
‘“I am extremely proud of our staff for their dedication to fundraising throughout the year,” said David Desjardins, President/CEO of Acadia FCU. “One hundred percent of all the funds we raise go back to our communities. It is incredibly satisfying to be able to significantly impact our local communities in this way.”’
What better way to start the school year, than helping out schools and students with school supplies? Teaming up with the Salvation Army, iHeart Media, SAYES and CCYES, they were able to have two fundraising campaigns, “Pack a Backpack’ and “Pack the Pods.” Security Service FCU raised more than $24,000 for thousands of children to be supplied with any school supplies they need.
‘“Thanks to the generosity of the community and our partnerships, we are able to provide backpacks and school supplies to children in shelters and dozens of underserved schools in three states,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Without these donations, many of the children in our communities would start the year without the supplies they need to be successful.”’
Let’s get up from our desks, chair or couches and challenge ourselves with Ideal CU’s 5-Week Step Challenge. Ideal CU launched this challenge to help promote the importance of daily exercise, BUT also keeping in mind/getting ready for the 10th Annual MN Brain Tumor 5K.
“Each week, the Wellbeing Committee shared helpful tips, recipes, motivational messages, and more to inspire and encourage employees to work toward a healthier lifestyle. Ideal provided employees with a tracking device to measure their daily activity. Participants would submit their average weekly steps for a chance to win great prizes and encouraged to increase the number of steps and build upon the previous week’s results. A total of 78 Ideal employees signed up to take part, and 49 completed the five-week step challenge.
‘"Our goal with the challenge was to promote a healthy, active lifestyle in the office and at home, and to encourage staff to make a long-term commitment to improving their overall wellbeing, as well as prepare them for the MN Brain Tumor 5K in May. We were very pleased with the results,” said Ideal CU President/CEO Brian Sherrick.’
