Humanitarian Highlight 1/24: Benevolence
Hello everyone and welcome back to another #HumanitarianHighlight! Today, we want to share some credit unions that have gone above and beyond to help make a difference in their communities.
Through Interra’s Hometown Giving Project, they raised an outstanding amount of $45,000 setting the record break for the year!! With thousands of items, dollars, sponsorships, and volunteer time; the Interra members and staff did a wonderful job in helping create a difference within their community.
Tell us this isn’t amazing. For every paycheck the employees at Visions FCU received, they had an option of donating $5 which in turn gets distributed to charity organizations within the communities that they serve. Their first yearly donated paycheck added to $3,585 and went towards A Room to Hotel, Inc.
Across six states for community organizations, 85 different individuals donated a generous amount of more than $12,600 during their 11th annual Pay It Forward. The program also gives their employees $15 to donate to any needy individual, family member or any organization of their choice.
Donated $1,500 to St. Jude and was a proud sponsor of the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer event.
The employees from Altura CU fulfilled many Christmas wishes this past year for more than 300 families. Altura then went above and beyond in honoring a distribution day for the 300 Riverside families who served through the Salvation Army program.
This amazing credit union awarded City Year Sacramento with a $20,000 Grant. “This is going to go a long way in our work to help students who really need some support, and our amazing AmeriCorps members who are working 10 hours a day for peanuts,” Jeff Owen, City Year Executive Director.
Will award five scholarships in which totals to an amazing amount of $4,500 to certain southern Rhode Island High School students during the 2018-2019 academic year. In addition, Westerly Community CU is offering three college scholarships, a vocational scholarship totaling to $1,000 each, AND a $500 reward through the Cooperative Credit Union Association College Scholarship Program.
