Humanitarian Highlight 5/28/2020: Happiness
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another #HumanitarianHighlight! We hope you are all safe and healthy during this rough time. What have you all been up to? When scrolling through social media, it astounded us by how many #creditunions have gone to the rescue in showing support to many various hospitals, organizations, and essential workers. If you know of any credit union who has continued to go above and beyond in helping support the community, please let us know so we can give them a shout out!
With Tyler Valentine’s beard ALREADY growing back AND his donation, we are very proud to give a shout out to Laramie Plains FCU who matched their $4,000 donation along with the Mountain West Credit Union Association match to be donated to the United Way COVID-19 fund.
Loving their community, Alpena-Alcona Area CU recently presented a $1,000 check to Lenny from the Lincoln Food Bank in an effort to help purchase food for families in need!
Proudly serving their community, Teachers FCU Foundation donated $5,000 each to 4 towns to help provide meals to the local hospitals and helping support downtown businesses!
“‘The priorities of our CEO [Brad Calhoun] are to really do three things during this pandemic: to support our people, our members, and our communities,’ said Inna Sprague, Teachers’ chief experience officer.” Greater Babylon
During this hard time we are all going through, The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, unfortunately, found themselves with a shortage of protective gear for their workers to wear when helping patients with the virus. Jumping to action, Jovia Financial CU quickly donated funds to help get the much-needed supplies to the residents throughout Nassau County.
A statement from the article: “CP Nassau’s critical work in caring for residents of its homes puts its dedicated staff at risk now that the pandemic has hit Nassau County so hard,” said Renu Dalessandro, chief marketing officer at Jovia. “These much-needed supplies will not only protect these caring and dedicated workers, but will help the individuals get the vital attention they so desperately need.”
Understanding how impactful helping out the community is, Diamond CU took the time to purchase $10,000 worth of personal equipment for the employees at Tower Health’s Reading and Pottstown Hospitals.
‘”Diamond Credit Union is grateful for, and impressed by, the bravery and compassion put into action every day by Tower Health and all health care workers," said John Faust, president and CEO of Diamond. "Our team is honored to donate PPE to our friends, and neighbors, at Reading and Pottstown hospitals to ensure the safety of those on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.’"
Let’s talk about how outstanding Cornerstone Financial CU is! The credit union graciously was able to head to the Williamson Medical Center to provide the nurses with a very nice discounted meal from their Café!
We need to give a huge round of applause to the Elevations CU team members for putting together 200 care bags with the much-needed essentials to be distributed to many families through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County and Poudre School District!
