Humanitarian Highlight 5/7/2020: Community Outreach
Welcome back to another #HumanitarianHighlight! I think we can all agree that the world today is different. Everyone is stressed, the air feels eerie and all the essential workers are feeling the pressure big time. When scrolling through social media, it caught our eye that many credit unions are taking the time to support local businesses, and donate to organizations that are creating items for first responders and others in the community. We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during this rough time, and please reach out to us if your credit union needs any support. Also, let us know if you have heard of any credit union who has donated! We would love to include them in the #HumanitarianHighlight blog and give them a shoutout!
Caring about everyone and their businesses in their community, CBC FCU has yet again added ANOTHER restaurant to their #EPICDifference campaign! The best and most touching thing about this campaign is that the credit union buys thousands of dollars in gift cards to mail out to their members in need. Now, that is an incredible way to spread the #CUmovement!
When scrolling through social media, we came across a post about what Day Air CU has done, and it, of course, touched our hearts. Over the next few weeks, Day Air CU is planning on buying a meal for their First Responders to show how much they are appreciated!
With everything going on in the world right now, Black Hills FCU made a $5,000 donation to the COVID-19 Medical Relief Fund, and it allowed for the Monument Health Foundation to provide $10,000 in matching funds!!
Helping to support local restaurants during the pandemic, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s "We Share A Common Thread Foundation" hosted a #ThankYouThursday, in which each of their local branches and departments order from local restaurants paid by the CU’s executive team!
This generous credit union donated $1,000 to Artisan’s Asylum, a non-profit that empowers individuals to take a stance and show the world their creative ideas.
“Artisan’s Asylum is a 40,000 sf2 member-supported community makerspace in the heart of Somerville, Massachusetts. Our members put ordinary tools to use to make extraordinary things. We offer tool training, workshops, and classes to enable members to bring their ideas to life. We’re home to more than 300 independent creatives from all walks of life, joined by a common love of making cool things.” Artisan’s Asylum

Thinking about their community and all those affected by COVID-19, UMassFive College FCU sponsored 150 portions of chicken pot pie to be served at the Amherst Survival Center as a daily meal. ALSO, this outstanding credit union is sponsoring the delivery of 200 meals to all the Emergency Room staff, who are splitting their time between Springfield’s Mercy Medical Center and Worcester’s UMass Memorial Medical Center. You thought UMassFive was done, well you are wrong. The CU has also pledged $1,000 to the Food Bank and another $1,000 to a local farming non-profit, CISA!
Caring for everyone in their community, RTN FCU employees provided dinner for all the men and women who are at the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen!
