Humanitarian Highlight 6/11/2020: Be The Reason Why
We are completely astonished by how supportive and warmhearted the credit unions are to their communities. In this #HumanitarianHighlight, we gave shout outs to a range of credit unions who went above and beyond to make sure the frontline heroes in their communities are taken care of, local businesses are still running properly and providing meals to many first responders to thank them for their work. WOW! We appreciate every single one of you and want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you know of any credit union who has continued to support their city in any way, please send us a direct message on any of our social media platforms and we will be more than happy to give them a shout out!
How phenomenal is this? RelyOn CU stopped by two firefighter stations to drop off snacks and drinks to all the frontline heroes! Way to go #CUfamily!
As part of their #GivingTuesday, Sentinel FCU donated $250 to Fork Real Community Café! The Café is a non-profit that has welcomed their community to enjoy food and not worry about the pay.
“WHAT IS FORK REAL?
We are a "pay what you can" cafe. We serve lunch 5 days a week, at 324 St Joe from 11am to 1:30pm. We emphasize three main concepts:
People: Anyone and everyone in the community is invited to enjoy a home-style meal in a welcoming environment regardless of their ability to pay.
Food: Enjoy nutritious food using locally grown produce in a "farm to table" model building a stronger community.
Conversation: Whether you're sitting at a table for two or at our community table, food is the avenue for conversation.” Fork Real Community Café
They have also donated:
- $250 to the Youth & Family Services
- $250 to Storybook Island
