Humanitarian Highlight 9/12: #CUmovement
Our favorite day of the week, #HumanitarianHighlight day! We love our credit union industry and all those who help create a #CUdifference within the community. Please take the time to read our blog and let us know if you have any questions. If you see a credit union that has gone above and beyond for their community, don't forget to let us know so we can highlight them in our future HumanitarianHighlights!
With the help of their members and blood drive attendees, Communication FCU created a #CUdifference by donating a truckload of school supplies! The supplies went straight to Feed the Children teacher store. Way to go Communication FCU in creating a chain reaction!
“It takes donors who believe in the cause, experts to diagnose the problem and innovate solutions, organizations to pool their resources and expertise, and communities to work together for change. Feed the Children exists to end childhood hunger. It’s the cause upon which we were founded over 40 years ago and the one that we continue to fight for each and every day. We know it takes the power of many to end childhood hunger for good. We connect donors, experts, partners, leaders, and communities to attack the problem from all angles. We are taking a stand, and we will not rest until every child has enough to eat.” Feed The Children
We are amazed at how much the credit union industry has done to create not only a #CUdifference but a #CUmovement. Credit Union of Georgia helped raised an outstanding amount of $47,391 of donations for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta!
This superb credit union has raised a generous amount of $11,847.76 to be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals!
The Reliance FCU food drive had a great turnout and was able to collect 1,406 Ibs of food to be sent to Philabundance.
Philabundance seeks to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger forever. It serves approximately 90,000 people per week, a third of whom are children and 15% of whom are seniors. In 2014, Philabundance distributed about 30 million pounds of food through its neighborhood distribution programs and a network of more than 400 member agencies in 9 counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. What better way to start the new school year off by donating 23 backpacks stuffed with school supplies?! The West-Aircomm FCU team came together to make that happen for an effort to help out Helping Hands of Centerpoint.
“Helping Hands of Centerpoint is a group of individuals willing to volunteer their time and talents to help the homeless and needy people in our community. (Beaver County) We provide backpacks filled with items required for daily hygiene and warmth and well as clothing when possible. We also fill backpacks for underprivileged kids filled with school supplies in September. Many kids are at risk of going hungry over holiday breaks; we provide as many as we can with bags of groceries, so help out. This new ministry can go in many directions. Our mission is to follow God's Word, "Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do for me." Matt 25:40” Helping Hands of Centerpoint
How incredible is this? Generations FCU sponsored the Boysville, Inc. Wildest Auction event, which raised over $400,000. All of the funds will be used to help provide many of the children in crisis a safe home with food, shelter, clothing, and medical services.
California Bear CU helps out their community in many ways, and recently they had their annual fundraiser in which they donated 110 backpacks, school supplies, and snacks to a local school in their area. Their vendors also contributed, which helped California Bear CU reach their goal of $4,500!
