Marketing and Business Development by the Bay
Recently, people from around the credit union community flocked to San Francisco to attend the 2018 CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Conference. Over the course of four days, hundreds of credit union affiliates were able to meet with their associates to discuss new ideas, strategies and share wisdom with each other, all while having the opportunity to listen to high level keynote speakers and attend various workshops. Although we weren’t able to attend, here is a brief recap of what went down.
The first day kicked off with the usual orientation, workshops, and a welcome reception but was not limited to just industry topics and activities. For example, some attendees were able get an insider’s look at the everyday operations of the San Francisco Giants baseball organization through an exclusive tour. Others enjoyed networking and community giveback opportunities, as well as a keynote address by none other than skateboarding legend and entrepreneur, Tony Hawk.
Days two and three of the conference covered a variety of topics relevant to marketing, social media, brand growth, and outreach. Those who attended gained first-hand insight from professionals in various industries who detailed specific strategies and practices relevant to marketing and business development.
After three days of information-filled workshops, receptions, and networking opportunities, the last day of the conference appeared to be quick and to the point. We wish we were there. It was highlighted by one last keynote speaker, Kindra Hall. Her address, touched on tactics that businesses underutilize when it comes to reaching their audiences. It was one last inspiring session of business insight to leave attendees equipped with new ideas to bring back to their credit unions.
