Humanitarian Highlight 6/20: Assurance
Do you know what day it is?! It's #HumanitarianHighlight day!! We are so excited to share these fabulous credit unions in an effort to show off how committed they are to help create a #CUdifference within their community. If you know of any credit union that went above and beyond for their community, use #HumanitarianHighlight to be featured on our page!
The leadership team /staff from this magnificent credit union helped prepare lunches and clothing bags for All Saints Soup Kitchen and Pantry. A brilliant way in helping out and giving back to the community!
Teaming up together, the Short North Member Center came together to donate clothing items to Star House Columbus. Star House is a 24/7 drop-in-center for homeless youth which provide many services in helping them stay in a trusting, safe environment.
“Star House conducts calculated outreach to the streets, soup kitchens, libraries, parks and campsites. We welcome youth into a non-threatening, trusting environment that offers food, clothing, a place to be, mental health therapy, health care, laundry facilities, mailbox, computer lab; connection to wide-ranging social services, including housing, transportation and more; as well as workforce, educational and enrichment opportunities.
We served 984 individual youth in 2016. Among a survey sample of 181 of our youth, 1 in 2 were connected with jobs; 2 in 5 were connected with crucial identification cards; 1 in 4 entered educational programs; and 2 in 5 received medical care. Given that homeless youth are known for hiding in social margins, these numbers prove that these youth want help, and the unique help we offer works.” Star House

We are so proud and inspired by Jersey Shore FCU because of their determination and will to help out their community. Their commitment to helping others is incredible and is very much appreciated. Striving to help create a #CUdifference, one commitment they love partaking in is taking initiative to help meet the needs of students during the summer break. Knowing they won’t have access to meals, Jersey Shore FCU participates in a Kid-Friendly Food Drive to ensure that every kid has nutritious food to eat. Way to go everyone!
