Humanitarian Highlight 8/22: New Opportunities
Welcome back to another #HumanitarianHighlight! We love our #CUfamily so much and are in awe of how incredible it is when they each show their #CUdifference. Know a credit union or are part of one that has gone above and beyond in helping? Please let us know by tagging #HumanitarianHighlight or simply contact us on any of our social media platforms.
A round of applause for Associated CU for taking the time to make sure every student in Augusta has school supplies in an effort to get ready for the upcoming school year.
Gearing up for the school year, Mid American CU had a backpack drive to help the students and their parents who don’t have or can’t afford to have school supplies. Altogether, this outstanding CU raised a total amount of $3,520 and donated an incredible amount of 93 backpacks!
The greatest part about working in this industry is getting the chance to help others in understanding the importance of making financial decisions. Within the past school year, Corning CU has led 16 #MadCityMoney simulations in 16 NY schools which showed a total of 1,412 high school students the importance of making smart financial decisions. On top of all of that, the credit union helped teach K-6th graders on how to spend their money wisely, because you can NEVER be too young to start saving your money.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Musician Alex Boye recently had a concert where all of his proceeds go to his Bend Not Break Foundation; a foundation which raises awareness about suicide. Mountain America CU is sponsoring this event because they know this is a topic that needs to be heard.
“Tony Rasmussen with Mountain America Credit Union said, "Every single person has or will be impacted by suicide. Mountain America saw the need to help and partnered with Alex to present a benefit concert."
Please visit this website, https://www.bendnotbreak.org/ and read the back story of Alex and how there are ways to help those in need.
